Prayer for the Unborn

Something I published to Facebook in Jan. 2016: Dear Little Ones in the Womb, We beg your forgiveness. A billion and a half of you have been killed worldwide since 1980. Almost 59 million in this country since 1973. Your blood stains our ground alongside that of the Lord of heaven and earth, to whom the womb was once home. We do now implore the Blessed Mother who bore Him to hasten this prayer to her Son in heaven: please bring the bloodbath to an end. Lift this scourge from the soul of our nation. Send the Holy Ghost to pierce the hearts of those who would harm the harmless. Let the sacrifice thus far be sufficient unto the task. We know that You treasure their innocence, akin to Your own, and will now immerse them in the love that should have come from us. You came not to condemn the world, but to save it. We plead therefore that You make an end of it. The helplessness of those of us who cannot is a burden on our hearts, and difficult to bear. We know that Your love can do all, that You can draw all men to Yourself, that all power in heaven and earth has been given to You. Heal us, and make us new again. We thank you for coming down to dwell among us – as a baby in Mary’s womb, as a child full of wisdom and grace, as a man who gave His life for the life of the world. Please let it be the time for You to say once more, “It is finished.” We thank You for dwelling with us in the Blessed Sacrament until the end of time, for letting us partake of your fullness therein. Live within us, Lord, that we might live.
