I confess to having a little fun with the zeroes in the dates.

and the scientists don't much care if the public understands at all. I think this is true. They want us to understand enough that we feel knowledgable, but not enough to question their authority. It also helps when they have a political class in power to ram the more unpalatable tenets down our throats.

I was not aware of that Bavarian story, and if you have a link I'd sure like to read about it.William Lusehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15928946919078483848noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3712012.post-87874348331850067312007-02-26T16:45:00.000-05:002007-02-26T16:45:00.000-05:00Yeah, I think one of the links goes to the essay w...Yeah, I think one of the links goes to the essay where he said that.

Perhaps his zeal is motivated by the fact that he'll never be able to say 'I told you so.' As Chesterton put it, Christians posit an unthinkable God who turned nothing into everything; the evolutionists reply inearnest, almost as scolds: no, in fact nothing turned itself into everything: a never-ending flood of water pouring out of an empty pitcher. This, they tell us, is the result of careful reason.

Dawkins, Sam Harris, et al., increasingly appear openly menacing to me. Dawkins, for instance, has stated plainly that the teaching of religion to children should be regarded as child abuse. The atheists are coming for your children, seriously.

Them's fightin' words, Dick.Paul Cellahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00976325524080225869noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3712012.post-7312365610304867422007-02-24T20:33:00.000-05:002007-02-24T20:33:00.000-05:00Hey, thanks for stopping by. Actually, the arguments are _very_ like Dawkins's own.
